NEW MOON in Cancer

Every NEW MOON is another opportunity for an energetic RESET – but according to the star gazers, this month it’s occurring while Mercury is in Retrograde, so it’s not the time to set our intentions outwards.

Todays NEW MOON in Cancer (my rising sign) is an emotional reset, asking us about our emotional safety, sense of belonging, and what home means for us.

Although each person’s healing journey is unique, there’s a collective story playing out, and we’re all feeling the effects of a system failing us in some way, shape or form, but we need to trust the process of change. Each person’s story is part of the whole, and every one of us plays an important role.

I’ve been redefining my sense of home for many years now …

Home isn’t just a house, and a safe space to BE, it’s a feeling of being at home within our own body, and spirit. Like love, home is a state of being that deeply grounds our energy into the present moment, and that’s where we truly belong – because there is no where else to BE other than in the NOW.

I’ve read that so many times, so I know it, but today I feel it stronger than ever.

For me, this energy feels deeply nurturing, but if you are in your head more than your heart, then this energy may be stirring up some feelings for you.

Mother wounds? Childhood patterns? Emotional scars?

Whatever is arising from within you, or being reflected back to you, then acknowledge it’s presence because the experience is for you.

This is an invitation to re-parent ourselves, and nurture our inner child. To release the armour of our defences, and soften into our feelings, so we can experience deeper healing, and be more authentic in our interactions.

What does emotional safety mean to you?

For me, it means being true to myself, and being in the company of those who allow me to be an open expression of who I truly am. When I’m able to be vulnerable with others, then I feel truly heard, and deeply respected because I know my presence is valued. Feeling emotionally safe shifts me from the defensive reactions of my fear response, to an open and relaxed state of being.

Do you feel safe and nurtured on your current life path?

Yes, and I’m extremely grateful for that, but I am equally grateful for the experiences when I didn’t feel emotionally safe – because it taught me an important lesson I needed to learn. To never doubt my intuitive knowing, to honour my boundaries, and to unapologetically protect my own inner peace.

This planetary alignment is asking us …

What feeds, nourishes, and drains your energy?

It could be where the focus of your attention is flowing, the habits you are repeatedly engaging in, the relationships surrounding you, the content you are consuming and digesting, and the stories you keep telling yourself.

Whatever we are feeding will grow …

  • If we are feeding the fear of loss, then this will intensify within us
  • If we are feeding the peace, then this will radiate from within us
  • If we are feeding the fight of resistance, then we experience more conflict
  • If we are feeding the healing, then we create more meaning and purpose
  • If we are feeding our relationships, then the connections will deepen
  • If we are feeding our gifts, then they will develop and strengthen

What deserves your energy?

For me, it’s still about focusing on building and creating – because I believe more than ever that my stories matter, and that’s why I’m developing my writing skill, improving the relationship I have with my SELF, spending time with those who value my presence, and aligning my life with my soul’s calling.

Knowing that’s how I feel deeply fulfilled, experience more joy in my life, confront challenges with a growth mindset, actualize my full potential, attract my hearts desire, create new realities, and manifest the vision of my dreams.

According to star gazers the energetic shifts you may be feeling right now …

Need for Rest and Nesting: Feeling the urge to retreat into comfortable, safe environments to focus on self-care.

Heightened Sensitivity: Emotions aren’t just passing thoughts; they demand to be understood and expressed.

Nostalgia and Reconnection: Past memories, family history, and even old friends or exes may resurface.

Are your thoughts taking you back into the past?

  • To a feeling you’ve buried
  • To a home you once left
  • To a version of yourself you’ve outgrown
  • To something old that wants to be finished properly

Allow this alignment to reconnect and rebalance you, so you can move towards the next FULL MOON with more clarity and presence for the RELEASE, that will enable you to set deeper intentions during the next NEW MOON cycle.

Is there purpose to feeling LOST?

We all feel lost sometimes, but we don’t always embrace it.

The brain is hardwired to avoid the unknown – because it needs to feel safe and secure, and that’s why not knowing doesn’t feel good, but if we are willing to lean into the discomfort with a little more curiosity, we can learn a lot during times of uncertainty … however, it will feel uncomfortable.

I’m wrapping up a 12 week online writing course, and I began writing a story this week. After writing my life story to make sense of some challenging experiences, I’m now narrowing the focus with more intention, to write about an experience from my life that reflects a significant inner shift.

The story begins in 2022 when I’ve hit another rocky bottom, and I’m taking the reader on a journey, concluding the story one year later.

Many things happen during that time, and I notice how narrating the past from my present perspective is a little different – because I’ve emotionally detached from the experience. Some things have become clearer, while other things have faded into the distance – because temporary stressors, that were once highly charged with energy are no longer fuelled with emotion, so I’m able to see overarching patterns, and my life lessons with more clarity.

Essentially, I’ve shifted focus from the subjective lens of my emotions, to the objective truth, and it’s been another challenging experience to learn and grow from. Ironically, during my university studies, I did the opposite. Shifting from the objective truth of psychological theory, to the subjective lived experience of social theory, to bridge the gap between what we know and how we feel.

Becoming conscious of those internal shifts have been a struggle 😵‍💫

“This transition often mirrors the philosophical concept of phenomenology, which studies the structures of consciousness as experienced from first-person point of view. In psychology, it’s moving from third-person observation to acknowledging how emotions actively shape our internal reality.”

Spiritual influencer, Teal Swan talks about how healing occurs in layers, and from personal experience, I agree, but the journey can often feel like we’re not actually learning anything. Sometimes it can feel like we need to do more healing because we find ourselves confronting the same lesson, but that’s not necessarily true – because there are points in our time-line when repeating a familiar pattern is right on purpose – because we are experiencing it from another perspective to understand another element.

The deeper we go, the more elements to a pattern we will experience.

Trigger ⋙ Behaviour ⋙ Consequence

For me, its about intimate relationship, and how I’ve abandoned and betrayed my SELF in the name of love, but each experience has been another opportunity for more awareness, and it’s been constantly changing my state of mind, which then influences how I communicate, and relate with another.

Every time a significant relationship has ended, it’s taken time to find my way, and how lost I’ve felt has depended upon the connection I’ve shared, the experiences I’ve had, and the stories I’ve told myself, but I eventually find my way back to my SELF – because I’ve been consciously exploring my inner world for years, to understand what healing means for me …

Reflection ⋙ Reconnection ⋙ Rebalance ⋙ Realignment

That’s why I know that feeling lost is an essential part of our healing process.

It’s a RESET button, to reflect, and an intentional PAUSE before a rebirth.

When we acknowledge that something no longer fits or serves our highest good, we begin to break down of old meaning, so a more authentic SELF can emerge, and that’s how we come back into alignment.

As the NEW MOON in Cancer approaches (my rising sign), it’s a planetary emotional reset, and the energy feels gentle and more nurturing. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, and it’s asking us about our emotional safety, belonging, and home, but I’ll share more about that in the next blog.

If you feel lost right now, then trust the process 🌀

Waking up to a NEW morning routine …

20260703_0836122438007557786159434

Yesterday, it was a fresh wintery morning, and the sun was shining …

Condensation was dripping from the windows because it was warm inside, and cold as fuck outside, and I absolutely LOVE it – because the change in season and sensory shifts makes me feel a deeper connection with Nature, and the cyclic rhythm and flow makes me appreciate the present moment more.

It was day (3) of my NEW morning routine, and it’s usually when we experience some resistance – because hardwired routines naturally protest, and our motivation for change begins to drop, but why do I feel even more motivated?

In brief … it’s because my brain remembers

In the past (several times actually) I’ve already had the experience of changing my morning routine, by eliminating coffee to reduce over stimulation of the nervous system. So, instead of building a new neural pathway, my brain has reactivated established networks from previous experiences.

Motivating me into action with less resistance

Making it easier to change my morning routine, and suggesting that creating healthier habits, cultivating a growth mindset, forming new neural pathways, and rewiring our brain has an impact on our experience (past, present, future)

Neuroscience calls is neuroplasticity

Wonderful things did happen yesterday …

Hugging my kids always brightens my day, and I felt motivated to take a walk after my visiting my daughter, so I went exploring. Walking amongst the trees on a new path makes me feel like I’m on an adventure, and I noticed how my thoughts were drifting towards my biggest adventure – the Camino de Santiago.

Reflecting upon what experience taught me about the way

As I was approaching the car, I noticed a love heart on the tree and decided to take a photo for my friend – because I knew it would uplift her spirit. As I got a little closer to take the photo, I noticed the wolf in the bark, and I felt a resonance – because it made me think of Sasha (a dog we had for 16 years).

My body responded with those familiar soulful goosebumps, that tells me I’m having a conversation with spirit, and it made me feel a deeper connection with those I love – regardless of where they are or if I am with or without them.

We all see what we need to see, and for me this felt significant – and a connection to the pack became even stronger, when I returned home to find a hand written letter from my sister -“sending my big sis something so I can magically appear at your door,” her words touched my heart deeply, and a few hours later I heard the call of a King Parrot (always makes me think about my Mam because of the encounters I’ve had with him since she’s been in spirit). He was letting me know the bird feeder needed refilling, and I was blessed with the presence of royalty, feeding 2 Kings and 4 Queens their evening meal.

It really is a wonderful world ✌😍

Our daily routines can become sacred practices

20260702_0729241697928257927786698

Did you know that drinking from our favourite mug is a deeply grounding experience – because it gives us those feel-good vibes, that calm our nervous system, and brings us a deep sense of comfort as we drink.

So many of our repetitive actions are opportunities for SELF care, and spiritual connection, but we need to shift our focus – from mindlessly doing something – to cultivating a stronger sense of presence, and we do it by …

  • Intentionally slowing down
  • To anchor ourselves into the present moment
  • Tuning into our senses – to notice how we feel
  • Expressing gratitude for the sensation of presence
  • Becoming aware of our breath – the rhythm of our life force
  • Creating a conscious experience to be fully embraced

That’s the practice of being in the flow

In flow – our daily routines become more conscious and intentional …

  • Sweeping the floor, with the intention of clearing the path
  • Taking a shower, with the intention of cleansing our energy
  • Preparing a meal, with the intention of nourishing the body
  • Making a bed, with the intention of creating a sanctuary for rest
  • Washing our hands, with the intention of washing away negativity

Every experience can become sacred with deeper intention

Learning how to stay in flow when confronted with unpleasant and uncomfortable challenges is something else though, and no matter how present we may feel, we’ll be missing something – because it’s impossible not to be triggered OUT or IN by stress, struggle and suffering (or) conflict, confusion and chaos, but like it or not, there’s meaning and purpose for ALL of it.

Those are the moments of reflection we need to be gentle, kind and compassionate with ourselves – because that’s when our nervous system is remembering, and the healing begins to happen.

Re-connection ✨️ Re-balance ✨️ Re-alignment ✨️

The more I slow down, the longer I sit in the comfort zone, and the more aware of my SELF I become, the more present I feel -because there are less distractions, but I can appreciate why this isn’t common practice – because becoming more conscious of ourselves isn’t always pleasant.

Eliminating the external noise allows us to peel back the layers, to confront our deeper reality – giving us more clarity on our unresolved emotions and un-integrated shadow, and it’s an uncomfortable experience – hence why I’ve been struggling with my comfort eating habit … but I am learning.

Yesterday, I decided to change my morning routine, and I made good choices most of the day, but I did eat too many carbs later in the evening because I felt the heaviness in my gut. I don’t feel like getting up out of bed early in the morning after a late shift, and I woke with a headache, so I didn’t feel good.

Mindful of my NEW routine, I did what I had planned to do …

Washing my face with warm water felt soothing, giving myself a lymphatic facial massage with the bi-oil left my skin feeling fresh and soft, brush stroking my body to say good morning felt comforting, and I stretched for longer because feeling the relief of my back clicking into alignment felt amazing.

The headache was still lingering, but I know it’s a combination of things – a late night, too many carbs in the evening, hormonal fluctuations, and my brain telling me “I need coffee,” but I drank the glass of water with lemon, apple cider vinegar, honey, and I decided NOT to give my brain what it wants.

Instead, I made myself a dandelion root coffee – in another life – when I was a night shift nurse, and a full time university student, I drank too much caffeine to stimulate my brain (as most of us do), but it was having a negative impact on my nervous system, so I began to substitute it for dandelion root coffee – because it came in the form of brown granules. Essentially, I was tricking my brain to believe I was still drinking the coffee it was telling me I needed.

Studying neuroscience and behavioural psychology had it’s perks.

I love the smell and taste of coffee, but I don’t like how my body responds to it, especially when it becomes a habitual pattern of behaviour that’s sabotaging my efforts – because caffeine worsens our perimenopausal symptoms.

While writing this blog of reflection to share, I’ve been doing some intentional deep breathing, made myself a cup of chamomile, ate an apple, and I feel better because the headache has gone, but I’m still tired. So, perhaps a siesta after lunch is on the cards for me – because I’m on another late shift tonight.

Change is a process 🌀

What habit do YOU want to change?

20260701_1023146350829716213960018

EVERY day is another opportunity to do something better for ourselves

I want to improve my eating habits, but this process applies to any habit

What is my motivation for change?

  • To reduce my sugar and carb cravings – so I can feel better
  • To feel less fatigue, and more energised – so I can live my best creative life
  • To prevent ill health – so I can improve my quality of life

Having studied psychology, and changed many of my habitual behaviours, I know it’s about more than what I eat, that’s why I openly share my process of change with others. Creating new habits is about replacing an existing behaviour with a healthier one, and to change it – first, we need to acknowledge the habitual loop that keeps reinforcing an unhealthy habit.

I keep repeating the sugar craving loop, and to break it I need to manage my blood sugar levels, identify emotional triggers, and build new habits

  • CUE (trigger) – what initiates the behaviour?
  • ROUTINE (action) – what I do in response to the trigger
  • REWARD (positive reinforcement) – how does it make me feel?

For example – in the morning, which is when I mostly write, I wake up thinking “I need a coffee” to stimulate my brain, but it’s just a habit I’ve created. I actually want to do more than stimulate my brain into action, I want to get the energy flowing within me, so I can feel connected to my body – because it has something important to say about experiences I have (past and present).

Like my feet when they tell me to – take your shoes off and ground us, put your feet up to reduce this swelling, wear your shoes when you walk more than 30 minutes or we’ll hurt tomorrow, rub us because we’re aching and the blood needs to flow, wash us because you’ve been walking around barefoot all day.

Our body communicates with us all the time, and learning how to listen is the most important part of healing – because until we connect with our body, we can’t balance the energy, and we won’t align with our higher self.

This morning I intentionally changed my morning routine ..

BEFORE making myself a cup of coffee, I washed my face, and gave myself a quick lymphatic drainage massage while applying bio-oil to my face – because it felt so good, I continued to brush the rest of my body using sweeping strokes, which then prompted me to do a few stretches.

How did this small change in my routine make me feel?

Connected to my body, and so I made another healthy choice – while the kettle was boiling, I drank a glass of water with a squeeze of lemon, splash of cider vinegar, and honey added to it. After drinking it I felt my insides wake up, and within 10 minutes I felt better than I do after that first cup of coffee.

Isn’t it crazy that we don’t do the things we know are good for us.

I still drank a cup of coffee, but I must admit – it didn’t feel as satisfying because I had experienced the (+) reinforcement of a healthier routine.

AFTER drinking my coffee, I felt really good about myself, and I made a bowl of porridge with all the yummy additions (seeds, nuts, my homemade berry chia seed jam, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg), and I felt nurtured and nourished.

Can I maintain that change every morning?

YES I believe I can, but I still love buttery toast, and I’m not going to deny myself when I fancy it – because I’m changing my usual no carbs or sugar approach, to find a sense of moderation.

To make a change we need to have a clear plan …

  • What am I doing?
  • Why am I doing it?
  • How will I do it?

I’m working on changing my morning routine because I know from experience – it will make me feel good, and when I feel good, I make other good choices.
